We have been away from home for 7 months now. The first 5 months were in India, where we mostly rented a house and had a "routine." The last 2 months have been "traveling." We left India late January and flew to Chiang Mai, a beautiful city in Northern Thailand. We loved Chiang Mai- seeped in culture and tradition yet very modern and open. So easy to be there.

| HMMM. THEY SAY THEY ARE NOT DRUGGED |
I left for my retreat in Mexico (which was FANTASTIC) and Itay and the girls stayed to have fun and explore Chiang Mai. Apparently every day was a mall or a nature experience. What a star Itay is!

| HAVING FUN IN TULUM! |
We all reunited in Bangkok after two weeks. From Bangkok, we took a bus to Koh Chang. A great little mountainous island in Thailand that is close to the Cambodian border. We spent a wonderful week there, hanging with a Thai Rasta family (seriously, they all adore Bob Marley, play reggae all the time, wear dreads, not to mention the happy herb).

The beach was dotted with hammocks and swings there was no end to our fun. Crossing into Cambodia was a bit rough and super HOT but the girls were STARS and made us feel proud that they have become great travel partners. We spent 2 glorious weeks in Otres beach - one of four beaches in Sihanoukville- South Cambodia. Otres is the least developed with just a handful of bungalows on the beach and several restaurants. It seems to be growing very fast and apparently land is being scooped up pretty fast (ALERT- any one looking for a great investment opportunity on a beautiful beach where living is cheap - here is your place.)

From Sihanoukville, we went to Phnom Penh, Siem Reap and now Bangkok. More on those places in a different post! These last few months have involved many long bus trips, hot and sweaty border crossings where we got ripped off and then more long taxi rides. Proud to say the girls are great intrepid travelers and handled the hard moments with a lot of grace.

Emile has a message for Naia... How did you feed the elephant? When are you coming back? I miss you Naia.
ReplyDeleteMiss you, miss you. Amazing how time flies. Also spent time in Chang Mai the up to Fang and then into the jumgle. So many years ago. Wonderful. See you some time to share adventures.
ReplyDeleteStay well.
So great to hear from you Kathy.
ReplyDeleteFor Emile:
I fed the elephant by holding out a big pineapple to him and then the elephant can with his trunk and grabbed it. Then he used his trunk to put the pineapple into his mouth. It was so cool because the elephant blows the air out as he is trying to smell the food. We are coming back in June. Maybe we will see you!
